Yes, the Songbird Flexfit® takes 312 hearing aid batteries, which are available at most grocery and drug stores.
The Songbird Flexfit® was designed to be the ultimate in performance and convenience. Its unique modular design enables easy battery replacement and flexible maintenance options, allowing you to replace the earpiece should the tip become clogged with wax or the wire get damaged.
The main body of the new Songbird Flexfit® is warranted for 90 days after the time of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship and to perform within published specifications. If, through no fault of your own, the new Songbird Flexfit® stops working within this 90-day period (parts, materials, or workmanship), Songbird will repair or replace the product at its sole discretion.
This warranty is void if: (a.) defects in materials or workmanship or damages result from repairs or alterations which have been made or attempted by others or the unauthorized use of nonconforming parts, (b.) the damage is due to abuse, improper maintenance, neglect or accident, (c.) the damage is due to use of the product with improper accessories, or (d.) accumulation of wax through normal use - please refer to cleaning instructions above and note that the earpiece assembly is replaceable and can be re-ordered from Songbird.
The Songbird Flexfit® has been designed for simplicity of use. When ready to use, open the pouch to remove the hearing aid case. Then slide open the case and remove the hearing aid. Use the finger grips to open the two portions of the hearing aid. Remove any visible tabs on the 312 battery and gently insert the battery into the tray in the lower portion of the hearing aid. Make sure that the "plus" side (flat side) of the battery is facing up. Gently close the two portions of the hearing aid. Turn the hearing aid ON to the desired volume by rotating the volume control up from the red line (OFF) to 1, 2, or 3. Place the body behind your ear, with the cord hanging in front of your ear. Grasp the tip handle and slowly push and wiggle the tip into your ear as far as it will go. For the most secure fit, pull up and back on your ear while pushing the tip into place. If the cord is too short to insert the tip or too long and not snug over the ear, take the hearing aid off and pull the cord through the hearing aid body to adjust.
To remove the Songbird, while the tip is in your ear, grasp the body and gently take it off your ear. Then, grasp the cord as close to the tip as possible and gently wiggle the tip out of our ear. DO NOT use the body to pull the tip directly out of the ear. This may strain the cord and could damage the earpiece. To turn the Songbird off and conserve battery life, rotate the volume control down so that the red line is completely visible. As you do this, you may feel a slight click. Turn the control as far as it will go (not fully turned off may still drain the battery). Opening the hearing aid and removing the batteries will also turn off the hearing aid. This will end the electrical connection to the battery. After you have removed the Songbird, remove any visible wax after each use, and place the hearing aid in the supplied carrying case. For visual instructions refer to the Instructional Booklet that came with your Songbird.
To help reduce and eliminate the whistling noise (feedback), some people find that they can either turn down the volume, or wiggle or adjust the hearing aid inside the ear.
If the whistling persists, you can use the optional foam ring we supply with your new Songbird Flexfit®. We have found that the optional foam ring helps for reducing feedback, as well as keeping the tip in place if people find it is slipping out. In addition, make sure you remove any wax clogging your ear canal or blocking the tip of the hearing aid.
The Songbird Flexfit was designed to make a standard 312 hearing aid battery last up to twice as long as a traditional hearing aid. Make sure that you turn-off your hearing aid using the volume control switch when the hearing aid is not in use to conserve battery power. Some of our customers find that they have to replace the earpiece assembly when, after inserting a new battery, they no longer hear any amplification of sounds. If that happens, then the earpiece assembly should be replaced.
The two portions open to allow easy replacement of the 312 battery. The two portions also come apart to enable replacement of the earpiece. If you have not done so already, remove the old earpiece from your hearing aid. Hold the body of the hearing aid in your left hand with the circular design facing you. Attach the hooks on the new earpiece assembly to the pins on the permanent body. This will create a hinge. Remove any visible tabs on the 312 battery and gently insert the battery into the tray in the lower portion of the hearing aid. Make sure that the 'plus' side (flat side) of the battery is facing up. Gently close the two portions of the hearing aid.

There are a few options for you. Make sure that the hearing aid is pushed in as far as it can go in your ear canal, until it fits snugly. For the most secure fit, pull up and back on your ear while pushing the tip into place.
If the aid continues to slip, we've included an optional foam ring with each Songbird Flexfit® . Using the optional foam ring can help keep the hearing aid tip in place.
To replace the battery, simply open the hearing aid and remove the battery. Use the finger grips to open the two portions of the hearing aid. Remove any visible tabs on the 312 battery and gently insert the battery into the tray in the lower portion of the hearing aid. Make sure that the 'plus' side (flat side) of the battery is facing up. Once the fresh battery is inserted, close the two portions of the hearing aid and the hearing aid will power up once the Volume Control switch is turned on. For visual instructions refer to the Instructional Booklet that came with your Songbird.
Yes, you can. The volume control wheel on the Songbird Flexfit® is located on the body of the hearing aid. This volume control serves as the "On/Off" switch and also makes the sound louder or softer, by dialing the wheel from level 1 (softest) up to level 3 (loudest).
Occasionally, wax and debris may accumulate on the tip of the hearing aid. After each use, remove any visible wax from the outside surfaces of the tip and handle with a soft tissue. If you see any wax in the slots at the end of the tip, clean the slots by using the cleaning tool provided with the Songbird Flexfit hearing aid. Place the wire loop of the cleaning tool into each slot and gently scoop away the wax. You will see the wire loop go underneath the rubber tip; scoop out the wax, but do not push the wire loop all the way down. Do not get the tip and handle wet. This may damage the earpiece.
