Hearing Aids are Hard-Let Us Help You Adjust With a Free Trial Extension!

We’ve written in the past about the acclimation period many people go through as they adjust to using a hearing aid for the first time. While some people begin to experience a dramatic difference the moment they put a hearing aid in their ear, for others, it’s just not that easy.

We know your natural tendency might be to give up.  Adjusting to using a hearing aid can be a frustrating experience.  Yet we know that the benefits of using a hearing solution far outweigh some of the acclimation struggles you might experience in your first few weeks.  We want everyone to be able to experience the joys of better hearing this holiday season.  For this reason, we’ve extended our free trial period from 30 days to 45 days.

Using a hearing aid is a bit like breaking in a new pair of shoes.  Uncomfortable for awhile, but eventually, you get used to the new feeling. Think back to the reasons you wanted to use a hearing solution in the first place.  Perhaps you wanted to hear your business meetings a bit better than you have before, or maybe you struggled to hear your grandchildren during family visits.  Whatever the reason, we want to reassure you that there are things you may experience that take some getting used to that are normal during the acclimation period.

For instance, as your brain adjusts to sounds it has not heard in awhile, noises like the refrigerator, air conditioning, or a clock ticking can seem louder than normal.  After getting used to your new hearing aids, you will be able to ignore these background noises again.  You also may experience some discomfort as you get used to having something in your ear.  Give yourself some time to get used to the feeling.  Remember, it’s ok to take the hearing aid out for awhile and give your ears some time to rest.

We encourage you to be patient and give yourself some time to try your hearing aid in different situations and experience all the joys better hearing can bring!  And remember, we’re always here to help you through this adjustment period.  Give us a call at 1-800-789-1830 or email us anytime if you need some help understanding what’s normal and what’s not.

P.S.  Do you have a story to share about getting used to your hearing aid?  We’d love to hear it!  After all, your story could help someone struggling with the same issues!  Submit your story here
