A Songbird Success Story: An Influencer's Perspective
17 Sep 2021
This is the fourth in a series of posts by Songbird's CEO, Chris DiCostanzo, providing commentary around some of the ways the hearing industry can address consumers' top concerns.
At Songbird, a majority of our sales are to influencers. Influencers are those wonderful people who notice that their loved one is having a problem hearing and are determined to find a solution that works. Recently, we were able to interact with one of these wonderful influencers, and are excited to share her story.
Jamie came to us through one of my friends who knew she was having some trouble finding a solution that would work for her grandmother. Jamie originally reached out to my friend via Facebook, desperate to find some help and frustrated that no one seemed willing to work with her and her grandmother. Jamie’s wonderful grandmother is in her 90s and still very independent. As I’ve learned from working with people like her in the past, not being able to hear properly certainly can rob you of your independence.
After hearing about Songbird’s Ultra, Jamie talked to her grandmother about the product and her grandmother decided to give it a try. Jamie was a bit surprised she was willing to try the Ultra, as her grandmother seemed set on aids that were not over the ear. However, these aids cost $4,000, an expense her grandmother was not able to handle. For $299 plus $9.95 shipping and handling, Jamie and her grandmother were more than willing to try the Ultra.
We sent Jamie and her grandmother a pair of Ultra hearing aids and were very pleased to hear from Jamie that her grandmother has never been so happy. Jamie shared the following with us yesterday:
“Now that she has both hearing aids in she can hear everything, even on the phone. She said she has never been so happy and she wanted to thank me. I had tears in my eyes when I hung up. You truly have no clue what a blessing this is for my grandmother. She will turn 96 on November 18th and this is the best gift she said she has ever gotten. I have never heard her so happy and excited. Thank you Songbird family!”
Jamie and her grandmother’s experience with Songbird helps demonstrate that buying a hearing aid CAN be easy and affordable. As we saw with Jamie’s grandmother, price is a major barrier that prevent people from actually buying a hearing aid. With a product under $300 that anyone can purchase for a loved one over the phone or online, Songbird breaks down this barrier every day, leading more along the path to better hearing.
I love having people like Jamie and her grandmother as part of our Songbird family. As Jamie has shown us, influencers play a huge role in helping their loved ones find a solution that meets their needs. While having a loved one with hearing loss can certainly be stressful, I encourage you to use Jamie’s story as motivation to never give up as you search for a solution that works. Remember, we’re here to make it easier for you to buy with confidence. After all, a Songbird could be the best gift your loved one and you ever receive.
P.S. Jamie's Songbird story did not end with her grandmother! After seeing her success, Jamie's dad ended up getting a pair of Ultra's as a surprise birthday gift! What a great way to continue the Songbird journey!
